Our analysis laboratories
The Department of Tumor Biology and Pathology (DBPT) brings together three diagnostic units serving CGFL patients, patients treated in other establishments and other private practices.
The DBPT also has regional or extra-regional expertise activity for specialized examinations or expert opinions.
It is accredited according to ISO 15189 (Medical Examinations / Accreditation No. 8-3195, scope available at
www.cofrac.fr).
The department’s research activity is carried out within the Cancer Biology Transfer Platform and within the Histology Unit, which are integral parts of the department.
The department has 3 diagnostic units: Pathological Anatomy and Cytology, Clinical Biology and Somatic and Constitutional Oncogenetics.

The 3 units
This unit handles biopsies, surgical specimens and various fluids (smears, urine, punctures, etc.) used to diagnose tumors or their extent. In addition to diagnosis, pathologists also participate in evaluating tumor prognosis (e.g., grade, biomarkers, etc.) and in evaluating predictive factors for response to certain therapies (e.g., hormone receptors, HER2, targets for personalized therapies).
Consult the PCR unit’s collection manual.
All biologists are certified to carry out tests of a person’s genetic characteristics.
This unit is responsible for genetic analyses on solid tumors in the context of theranostics, i.e. the orientation of treatment based on genetic abnormalities present in cancer cells. These analyses are carried out on NGS panels from tissue or blood (plasma) samples.
This unit also conducts research into genetic predispositions to breast, ovarian and digestive cancers. These analyses are performed using an NGS panel for the index case or by targeted tests in a relative (when searching for a mutation previously identified in the family).

The Clinical Biology Unit performs comprehensive clinical biology tests in the areas of biochemistry, immunology, hematological cytology, hemostasis, immunohematology, and infectious serology.
It ensures a rapid response and is involved in initial and preoperative assessments, initial prognosis assessment, monitoring of therapeutic efficacy and toxicity, and post-treatment laboratory follow-up.
The unit also performs blood sampling for patients, whether or not they are being treated at the CGFL.
See the sampling manual.
